Prison Rape: A Concern

Prison is referred to as a place where the culprits get punishment for their sins. But isn't it disheartening of getting such a painful and severe punishment like prison rape?

Prison rape proclaims the intoxicated face of prison life. This word means the rape which occurs in a prison. The prison or jail rape can be thought of as one of the hazardous punishment given to a prisoner for his/her sins. Often the rape is of inmates by other inmates. The proportion of the rape of inmates by staff of the prison or the vice versa is somewhat less.

The dominance of the regular inmate inhabitants over the new ones is thought of the major reason. But the ironical fact, my readers is that, the transition which occurs in and out the prison. While the rape of girls is a major issue outside the prison in the mainstream of the society, within the prison, the male rape is the most frequent event occurring.

But, the most ridiculous fact is that several people in this world don't know even the term Prison Rape. I confess that i also didn't know. But once I heard the term from one of my friend, I surfed the browser and came to know about it. The major reason is that the chiefs of prison don't want these facts and figures of the present to be known to anyone.

Several countries are trapped in this intolerable act, namely the US, Iran Turkey and several notable ones.

An US report published in recent years exclaims that prison rape prevailed in the country of such rapid development over several decades. Two researchers even calculated the number of people sexually assaulted every day to be approximately 10 million in "The US". While the scenario is totally different in Iran. The country's authorities support this blunder but allegedly rejects the issue infront of the whole world. Two famous leaders of Iran, Shadi Shadr and Mustafa Shaminejad even published during the Iranian Islamic revolution that prison rape has a long history in their Islamic Republic. But the Turkish authorities seem to be in a pressure, since the Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch are constantly reporting prison rape in Turkey over international reports.

But, the very good news is that the people are becoming aware about it. The US took a drastic step in 2003 and and passed the Prison Rape Elimination Act addressing the sexual assault of prisoners and became the first one to do so. protest even came up in the Iranian Presidential elections of 2009. Thus, we are here with the initiative to aware you readers and remove this ill act from the soul of this beautiful world.
